American Airlines sucks!
I will NEVER ever travel with American Airlines again.
In may, I traveled from Newark to Los Angeles (6 hr flight) and we never got any free food during the whole flight, except 1 drink. This sucks!

I guess you will be walking on your next trip. All of the airlines are adopting that policy.
In case you haven't guessed, the food was never free. It was included in the price of a ticket. You now have a choice to not pay that portion of the fare.
I'm willing to bet that you are very young.

Recently had a round-trip between west coast and TX on AA. They did a great job. Told us ahead of time about the on-board food issue and we planned accordingly. They also offered food snacks for $ in-flight if we had been starving. Served us two sets of complementary beverages each way.
NorthNJ are you sure you weren't napping part of the trip and just missed a beverage hand out?

I have traveled AA for years. I haven't had them serve food on a flight for simply years. I always make a point to eat before hand. Before the rules were so strict about what you could bring on, I brought food along with me.
I remember the good old days when AA had food that was actually tastey.
I'm just glad I don't have to travel anymore.

Your lucky you didn't travel on Delta, I flew from Providence to Atlanta and it ran low on gas and had to divert to South Carolina to land because of ground delays in Atlanta. All these airlines are in a bad way American, Delta all of them, seems like Southwest seems to be doing ok.

For a free food so far fly Continental Airlines. They are still serving it and drinks, and the first bag is still free and they flying B757 to LA.

Thats the same with Air New Zealand these days, they are only small flights but you get a free drink of water and a little biscuit and a lolly before you land. They have a menu on board on what you can buy.

You think you had it bad?
I was moving to Las Vegas from NY 9 years ago..was in Chicago for a connecting flight to Vegas and sat 9 HOURS on the tarmac! WITH NO WATER OR FOOD! The flight attendants weren't allowed to give us ANYTHING! can you imagine? It was horrible. It was American Airlines I believe too!!! I could have been to Hawaii by then!

My last flight (3 weeks ago) with Delta provided snacks and drinks. I even still have a pack of their Biscoff biscuits.... awesome tasting treats. Aside from that... the food/snacks have been hit or miss in terms of them being served. But they've always provided that info ahead of time (I believe its on your itinerary?).
I simply don't expect any food at this day and age. Just eat beforehand or bring something on board.

American Airlines is my carrier of choice, along with Alaska Airlines. I love them both, and wouldn't travel on any others if I can help it.
OP, I'm guessing you aren't aware of how the U.S. and world economies have changed in recent years, and how airlines are going out of business left and right due to many factors including the skyrocketting cost of fuel.
As previous posters have noted, ALL airlines throughout the world are doing the same thing, and American was NOT the first.
Next time you fly, you might want to pack a snack
