One time I was forced to sit in a very small regional jet on the tarmac for almost 7 hours due to a air traffic control incident. I suspect that if I had access to a emergency door and slide, I would have gone out myself. People were crying and screaming at the flight crew to go back to the airport and let them out. It was getting ugly. One women came very close to going out the emergency shoot.

They are always making us watch videos about slide awareness. An inadvertent slide deployment costs the company at least 50 grand. A wide body making a transatlantic flight would have a slide that doubles as a raft. That costs a whole lot more.

I wonder if they had a slide stocked at that station, or if they had to fly one in. You can't just repack a slide, and go on your merry way. A new one has to be installed.

That guy has no idea what that little stunt just cost him.

What an idiot. That's truly amazing. This grown man was acting like a whiny child! Honestly though, I could understand it in the other case of being stuck on a place for seven or eight hours, going nowhere. I think I'd be close to going insane at that point!
