I was born in Germany to a German mother and American father. He was in the Air Force stationed in Germany when he met this young beautiful German lady and was smitten from the first moment. They married and I was a honeymoon baby --- born 9 months later to the day.

After his discharge from the Air Force, it was time to return to the states so he could go to college and get his engineering degree. So, he returned home on an airplane with his wife and 3-month-old daughter...me.

When I was 6, we took a one-way cruise from New York to Bermuda. My dad used to crew on a racing sailboat and he did a race from Newport Rhode Island to Bermuda. My mom, brothers and I sailed on the Queen of Bermuda in 1964 to meet him. The five of us flew home on a Pan Am propeller plane to what was then Friendship Airport (the site of BWI south of Baltimore.) I don't remember much except that we got VERY dressed up to fly.

My first time on a plane was when I was a couple days old. I was born in San Diego but my birth Mother gave me up for adoption. My adopted Father came from Texas to take me home to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Four months old.
I was born in New York, we moved to Pennsylvania when I was an infant, then to northern California when I was four months old.
First airplane ride where I knew what was going on?
Maybe when I was in second or third grade and flew to Washington DC to see the grandparents.
