Any ideas for activities for a weekend trip to Minneapolis (or surrounding area) for a family with 2 young children? Thanks!

Odd place to go on a vacation, but there's something to do nonetheless:

- Mall of America: The city's most famous attraction. Has a Nickelodeon-themed amusement park inside that kids will like, as well as an aquarium. Otherwise, mostly just the same chain stores you'll find in other cities, but it's fun to see the giant crowds of tourists so amazed they can go to Abercrombie and Fitch, Nordstrom's, and a ton of other stores in the same building.

- Valleyfair: The Twin Cities area's outdoor amusement park. Has some really good rides, but your kids might not qualify for the height rules, although there are kid's rides, too.

- Minneapolis Institute of Art: Not just paintings, but something from almost every culture and time. Free.

- Science Museum of Minnesota: Very kid-friendly science museum.

- St. Paul Cathedral: Believe it or not, St. Paul is home to an excellent cathedral which some say is one of the country's best.

- Walk part of the Grand Rounds (the city's lake / park system), or even better, bike or drive it. Stop for a swim, too.

The Minnesota Zoo.

Como Zoo which used to be free anyway and if kids are small is surely big enough, and has conservatory and rides.
