PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Manitoba (AP) -- A Chinese immigrant accused of stabbing, beheading and cannibalizing a man on a Greyhound bus in Canada pleaded in court Tuesday for someone to "please kill me," and was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

I'm sure there are many people in the victims family who would gladly stand in line to do just that.

What? Y'all don't carry around little snack bags of ears, noses and lips in case you get hungry later?

Really, as people have said that its sick no one did anything. I read in another source, that one of the passengers was a soldier for the Canadian army. The people could have stopped him, but this just goes to show why western world sucks.
Nothing but a bunch of selfish thinking people. In India this would have never been tolerated. A mob of people would have killed the person with the knife.

If the victim was dead, the passengers and driver did the right thing - isolate the attacker, keep themselves safe, and prevent him from leaving the scene until the cops showed up. If there was a soldier on the bus, then he was well enough trained to know that attacking in a confined space where you have a very limited angle to attack him from is suicide. The soldier may have made sure that the other passengers were getting off the bus safely, which may have helped them far more than if he had attacked them.

The Edmonton paper reported that the passengers kept the attacker from getting off the bus with makeshift weapons like a hammer and a crowbar.

The passengers did do something - they kept the guy from hurting anyone else, and they kept him from getting away. Don't confuse action with heroism. Sometimes the most heroic act is the one that keeps you alive to see another day.

Good point, Sean.
It seems easy to second guess, but who knows how fast it all happened.
None of us were there, we don't really know what went down.
