I am Perth-bound in about 4 months now. I am excited. Any advice for a first-time-Australia visitor from the US?

Nah, it's the Yanks that speak funny Matey. And the Yanks have giant Jackalopes to match the giant rats in Aussieland.

Agreed, it's like the USA was 60-70 years ago.
Population there is around 25 million, food is fantastic, people are more friendly and laid back. So much to do and see.

I spent 6 months in Australia several years ago. I would definitely consider going back for a visit if I had the opportunity.

I've been to Sydney, the Snowy River Mountain country, Canberra, Melbourne, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Adelaide, and Cairns. Australia is an incredible country to visit. During my travelers elsewhere, I have encountered any number of Australians and I have generally found them to be some of friendliest and most outgoing people I have met. I never met any people who were hostile or unpleasant. It does take a bit of getting used to the accent at times though, but I'm sure they feel that way about Americans.

Australia is a great country to visit and I hope someday we will be able to return. I would like to see the area on the other side of the continent around Perth.

Loved it, can't wait to go back, won't fly coach again. Went to Sydney and Hamilton Island. Fantastic food, wine and people, hoping to plan another visit there in a few years.
