Wondering what airlines will charge you for next? Try pillows and blankets.

JetBlue Airways said Monday that it would sell a pillow and blanket set for $7 on flights of two hours or more.

I would never consider using an airline pillow or blanket. You don't know where they have been before you. Are they laundered after each use? I doubt it. Be safe and bring your own!!

Getting charged for drinks and food (if it is STILL available), headphones, blankets....pillows.
All I am waiting for now is being "charged" to use the restroom on the plane (a Quarter for each "tinkle", and a whole dollar for everything else......LMAO )

Traveling via air is becoming such a headache and hassle anymore.....and I am not sure, where it will end.

You know, I have often wondered about this. I have worked for an airline the past 20 years. There are always new pillows and blankets put on board when we send a plane out of maintenance. I see planes coming in with used blankets and pillows all over the place. I really have no idea how often they get used. I do know that I won't touch one unless it's still in the wrapper. I have no interest in catching somebody else's cooties.

I really don't mind 'a la carte' services, as long as the base price stays reasonable. The pillow and blanket are y-u-c-k-y.

I found another article and my take on this is that it's a new pillow and blanket and comes with a $5 coupon for bed, bath and beyond.

JetBlue says you'll pay for pillow and blanket -- Newsday.com (http://www.newsday.com/business/ny-bzblue0805,0,897716.story - broken link)

"Eshelman said that JetBlue is not just selling any old pillow and blanket, but ones that are "eco-friendly," designed by CleanBrands LLC, a Providence, R.I.-based maker of products to promote healthy sleeping.

Passengers who buy the 10-by-12 inch pillow and 39-by-51 inch fleece blanket, can keep them, JetBlue said.

Additionally, JetBlue said, the pillow and blanket come with a $5 coupon to Bed, Bath & Beyond."

Yup...that'll be next on the list of airline charges.
And, if you "miss", you will get a bill for the cleaning services of the whole plane....hehehe.

On a serious note do I understand, that airlines want to re-cover charges. But, come on already !
Haven't the tickets itself become expensive enough ???

I wouldn't mind being charged for cleaner air in the cabin. They recirculate used air! No wonder so many people get sick with respiratory problems when they fly! Just another of the many reasons I no longer fly.

I've thought about the pillow idea, and if it keeps someone from bringing their own nasty, stained pillow on board (you know what I'm talking about...) I'm ok with it.
