Yellowstone in winter is unbelievably amazing. Imagine arriving at the Old Faithful Inn in a snowcoach and warming up with a cup of hot chocolate in your hands in front of a roaring fire in a gigantic WPA-built stone fireplace. Now that's my idea of a perfect Christmas!

Another idea I had was Montreal or Quebec.
I thought this would be a nice way of enjoying a winter wonderland, as well as another country, without having to cross the Atlantic.

Are you looking for a white Christmas? I would suggest New York if you are.

I took a roadtrip to Sequoia/Yosemite/Lake Tahoe last Christmas and it was just awesome! The Sierra Nevadas are just very pretty during winter and the crowds are also thin, you get a chance to experience nature with a lot of peace, it's perfect! I also echo cmacf1's idea about Yellowstone, that's also my idea of a great time during the holidays... just has a very cozy feel to it

Paris or the Grand Canyon.

I know they are two extremes, but you didnt give any clues to your likes or dislikes.

Thailand is really nice at Christmas. Perfect time to go there. I stayed at a hotel in Chiang Mai that even had a large Christmas tree in the foyer area.

No one has suggested Gatlinburg, TN yet. It's actually really nice at Christmas.
