My aunt called a little while ago to say her and her husband are stuck in Italy. After a 3 week tour of Italy then went to the airport to come home and the airline said sorry, D'Italia went bankrupt and there is no flight to go home.
Unbelievable. If any of you have a trip with D'Italia planned, better find a new route.
Yep, this airline has been in trouble for years. Several buy outs have fallen through and bankrupcy was expected. It's actually been in the news quite a lot.
Their service has been crap for quite a while because of the financial difficulties. Cancelled flights, rerouting, delayed flights, stranded passengers. Sorry your aunt is stuck.....but the handwriting has been on the wall for a long time.

What is D'Italia?
Do you mean Alitalia?
I know XL travel out of the Uk went under last weekend as well as another UK Tour operator. But I heard Alitalia is still up and running with a more limited service and has to pay for its fuel half up front.

I was wondering the same thing.
I just flew Alitalia this summer. Apparently there's been rumors they'd go out of business for like, 10 years now.
I heard something about a consumer complaint forum, so i won't talk more about alitalia here, now.
I could be wrong but Im thinking the airline is Alitalia not D'Italia. Alitalia did file bankruptcy and then there was a strike. A large number of flights were cancelled. The airline is struggling to survive now.
Somebody'll have to wire them money for a new flight, or perhaps even for an apartment rental.
