I plan on taking a trip with a friend to Japan for about two or three weeks.

About how much would we need for two to have a fun and comfortable stay anywhere in Japan?

We're coming from the US.

I'd say somewhere around $4,000 for everything (hotel, flight, food, spending money) per person. Since it's two people though, it will be less if you share the same hotel room. Somewhat more depending on how far east in the US you live.
