Default Has the economy affected your travel plans?

Living in a part of the world which relies almost exclusively on tourism, the outlook for the upcoming season does look rather dismal between the effects of the US recession and the increasing cost of air travel.

Are you cutting back on your travel or changing destinations for whatever reason, whether you vacation at home or abroad?

NJ_Newbie is on a distinguished road
I would say 'Yes'.

Though I do not have a confirmed itinerary for my vacation this December, I have certainly had to give thoughts on whether I will have a job then..

I am planning for my vacation...though I am also waiting to see how things pan out in the next couple of weeks....

Yes, it has. This spring I was headed for a week abroad to Ireland.

Now, it's a week cruise at a price difference of a few thousand dollars.

Gas is killing me and grocery prices especially produce is really curbing my spending.

Yes, between the airfare and the ridiculous surchrages on air fare, overbooked flights et al we are looking at destinations which are within a 500 mile drive radius..it still works out cheaper then two of us flying..or a cruise that leaves from NYC

No, b/c I usually try to set a budget every year of $1500 for vacation. We are a family of 4. Whatever that allows for, we do. I'm really good at searching the internet for really good deals. We live in FL and some of the places we visited were:
1) PA- to see family
2) Gatlinburg, TN
3) NC mountains
4) Raleigh, NC
5) Williamsburg VA and Va Beach
6) Myrtle Beach, SC
7) Royal Caribbean crusies to the Bahamas and Mexico

I think our next trip will be another cruise. We always have fun!

Yep, I'm gonna travel more.

The deals will start piling up here in a month or so, and with cash in hand, there are some real opportunities to have some fun on the cheap.

No, the economy has not effect our travel plans. We have always lived well below our means.

yes but probably only because I live in Alaska; therefore there are no competing airlines. We are stuck with Alaska Air and must pay whatever outrageous prices they charge. I'm sure in other areas one can get a better tkt price based on various other airlines.
From Juneau you MUST fly or ferry in and out. I paid almost 400.00 to get from Seattle back to Juneau after having paid 160.00 on Delta to fly from the gulf coast TO Seattle. Crazy stuff.
However I will pay what they charge about every 3 months to fly somehwere because thats about as long as I can stand being stuck here with roads to no where.
