Where can I find the cheapest flights to China? (hotels, airlines, price)

My wife and I are headed to China for Xmas to visit her folks. I've been there a few times, but the flights now are about 50% more than what I paid 2-3 yrs. ago. I'm trying to get it below $1000 from LA to anywhere in coastal China. Any well-kept secrets out there?

My daughter just flew back from China via Vancouver on Air Canada. She flew out of Hong Kong, for $450 one way to Vancouver.

I always use both Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com and Cheap Flights, Cheap Hotels, Cheap Airfare, Airline Tickets, Travel Deals - SideStep to check multiple sites for flights.

I also use Yapta - Track Airline Flight Ticket Prices and Airfares, Save Money! to track flights and notify me when a flight has met a threshold I've set to buy. Once I purchase a flight, I also track it in yapta, and yapta notifies me of price drops and if I'm eligible for a credit.

Kayak found me a cheap flight to Beijing on Air Canada last year (it was like $900 round trip, via Vancouver).

Shenzen Airlines is a domestic airline in China, it does not fly to North America. Fun airline though. We flew on it from Beijing to Shenzhen and the flight instructors led us in seated exercises and then they did a neat little dance.

Thanks. We scored decent deals from flychina.com on China Eastern, non-stop from LAX to PVG for $1017 each.
