Yes, we were in Turkey last March-April, 2007. Loved it, and its only a 45 minute flight across the Black Sea to Odessa, Ukraine, where I am from.

Yeah, I was there this past summer, and while it was nice, some jerk tried to rip me off at a restaurant/food stand place. The food was incredible, however.

I have been a few times and it is a wonderful country. The coast if glorious and it has some true scenic wonders. And the historical sites are gorgeous.

Istanbul is absolutely fascinating a true meeting of West and east and getting lost in the city is one of life's great pleasures.
The food is gorgeous too. The people are warm, hospitable and very friendly and it truly is a lovely place to visit.

My favourite areas are Anatolia and Cappadocia with it troglodyte villages and temples carved out of the rocks. Some of the landscapes are just out of this world.

Turkiye is awesome! I have been twice and loved it. I visited Istanbul, Olympos, Marmaris, and Bodrum. I also took a "Blue Cruise" (about $40 a day on a sailboat, includes food & beers were $1) and visited several other towns along the coast. Istanbul is a huge city, many historic sites as previously mentioned. I did find the carpet "salesmen" to be quite overbearing though. They were everywhere. I was at Topkopi Palace and a guy caught me on the way in telling me about his Uncles carpet store. I was very non committal about seeing his store, he said he would wait for me while I saw the Palace. Sure enough, 2+ hours later when I exited the Palace there he was! Soon thereafter I learned the phrase "no takishir" (phonetic spelling), or no thanks in Turkish, it worked wonders.

The coast is beautiful. If you are adventuresome try Olympos, home of tree house's and huts. Very off the beaten path and relaxed. The rooms usually come with meal included. Overall I found Turkiye to be a great budget destination. Bodrum and Marmaris are resort towns catering to tourists & many of them are Turkish.

I want to go back and visit the interior of the country.
