Default Any great San Diego suggestions for families?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for awesome hotels (all prices), attractions, restaurants that appeal to people w/ kids.

Great beaches, great activities, just fun stuff.

I'm especially having a tough time w/ restaurants oddly enough. Many are tourist traps, I've heard.

I bought the book "Fun Places to go with kids (Southern California)" by Susan Patterson and it's great. Tons and tons of ideas for activities, museums, restaurants, etc. San Diego is a big area so it's hard to give you ideas? North county is close to Legoland. North Central has decent beaches and very family friendly but most of the cool activities are La Jolla southward and some things are inland. You just have figure out where you want to stay.
