Vitamins and Air Travel to Europe (vacation, reservations, France, packages)

We are planning, in a year or two when we retire and sell the house, a vacation that will probably last a half year. We will travel to over thirty countries.

I take vitamins that are probably not for sale the world over, but they would be heavy, in the original containers, to pack in my travel bag.

So I am wondering if I can carry two month's supply on me and ship the rest to various destinations.

It is a sort of open-ended trip, so we are not calling to make reservations in all those places in advance.

Is there any sort of worldwide service that will hold packages for you until you arrive?

Mind telling us exactly what vitamins you take? It makes a difference.

Actual vitamins are widely available all over the world. I's stickier when you get into 'nutritional supplements' that are widely available in the US.

For example, melatonin is not freely available in in many countries of Europe. Coenzyme Q is hard to come by. DHEA isn't sold in a lot of countries.

Your standard A to Z vitamins are pretty easy to find.


I know of no entity or service that will receive and store parcel shipments.

The previous post by azoria has interesting implications. If I were you, I'd do some research on the general availability, and legality, of the various substances.

Assuming you determine that you will not be breaking laws, I would make reservations here and there, for example a week at x in France, a week at y in Spain, etc. etc., and FedEx packages to yourself as, say, John Smith GUEST at those addresses. I would also specifically in writing (email) explain in short sentences to the concierge (not just the reservations desk) at each location what you will do, request that they hold the package for you, request that they confirm to you by email that they will hold the package until you arrive, and get confirmation from them in writing (email) that they will do so.
