Royal Caribbean is at it again! (cruise ship, hotel, hotel, bridge)

What the heck? It's only been what, 2 years since Freedom made her maiden voyage, and now, a year from now, the new BIGGEST cruise ship is to be unveiled! I just learned about it, and I think it looks freaking insane. Check this out, if you haven't already...

This has been in the news for months now--they're actually starting to build her sister-ship---I think it's called Allure of the Seas!
2 story loft cabins---I bet it'll be fun going up and down those stairs in rough seas!

Crazy...would be nice....too bad it would cost more than I'd be willing to spend though.

I think the logistics of all those extra people would be a bit too much for me! While their Voyager class ships are large, they don't feel that big. We found that over the course of a week, we seldom encountered the same folks twice--that's how many places there are to be on the ship.
I can just imagine having to tender to port with 4500 others!

I agree cb. I can't imagine wanting to be on any vessel in the middle of the ocean with 4500 people.

The big ships are nice, and they hold an allure for me, but then I remember that when we get to a port there are only so many doors and so many tenders for all those passengers. And flooding some of my favorite ports with 4500 people, it just doesn't work for me.

I took a few big boat cruises several years ago. Celebrity, RCCL, DCL... Never on any of the gargantuan boats, but on the regular ones. I want to like them, but getting on and off the ship I always felt like I was part of a cattle call.

They wouldn't build them if people didn't want to cruise on them.
I do agree the larger ships are a hassle for tendering and getting off dockside for the tours. There sure is a lot of pushing and shoving. And the passengers disregard helping anyone that is handicapped. It's everyone for themselves. It's like they reverted back to animals at times.
The smaller ships are much more passenger friendly to cruise on.

I like how the rooms face the inside. Cost effective for the traveler instead of just looking out a window.

I can't wait to see this ship. We are taking the cruise and just experiencing all the ship has to offer. The rates in the beginning of November are just too hard to pass up.

Looks like a nightmare of mall/Vegas/urban sprawl on the seas. Horrifying.

I have been on islands when such monsters docked and the ships were literally larger than the island. A torrent of tourists then washed ashore all at once, hurtling up the streets in a great army of stretch shorts and blubber.....the whole experience was terrifying.

Awful.
