Wow, Sardinia looks amazing- but during my travels, so far the color of Cancun's water hasn't been beat. Its such a beautiful, icy, bright blue.

I'll have to go with La Jolla Shores (CA) since I live 2 miles away, though I do love Del Mar because I can take my pup there and let him off leash.

My favorite beach is Jones Beach in Long Island, NY on the Atlantic Ocean roughly 30 miles East of Manhattan. It may not be a beach with palm trees, but the ocean and the white sand is beautiful and the boardwalk is fun to walk on in the summer.

For a "favorite beach" it would have to be free of rocks on the bottom.....thats not fun.
It would have to be hot enough there to swim in the summer months, and not get chilled.
Things to do with children is important.......
Also, to not be in a crime spree area.........so.......favorites.
1. Grayton Beach Florida.....Voted number 1 in the past. White, white sand beach......gorgeous
2. Bethany Beach, DE.......Just because I love the area, and things to do.
3. Wildwoods, NJ.....Because they are so kid friendly, long, large beaches......a fun
family destination
4. Hawaii beaches.......Well some........because I don't like round rocks/coral under my feet.
Kauai had my favorite......
5. Ormond Beach, Florida.......Because it is quiet, clean, relaxing.......

I think "best beach" is very subjective. Depends on what you're looking for: scenery? swimming? surfing? fishing? white sand? fun? solitude?
My favorite is somewhere I haven't even been but am planning on going to in a couple year: one of out the islands of the Bahamas. Kinda place where they film the corona commercials
For outside the US, you can't beat Cancun or somewhere on the Yucatan. Turquoise water, white sand, low surf. Even Jamaica can't compare.
My favorite beach in the US is one of the most tourist-y, but the most beautiful I"ve found: Clearwater Beach. Same as Cancun with more Americans and a cheaper airfaire
Most stunning beaches beaches I've been for scenery would have to be San Francisco or Maine. Rugged, cold and beautiful.
