Best and Worst Airlines
We all have that one airline that we just cannot stand to fly with. For me, it is United. They've lost my luggage once. They've told me I had to check my carry-on...after we had already boarded, and mine was way smaller than some of the others that they had let people bring on. Needless to say, I almost got myself thrown off of the plane over that one ! I now refuse to fly United because it is always something that goes wrong.
I now choose to fly Continental whenever possible. I have never had any problems with them, nor have I been treated disrespectfully by Continental employees.
So what are your horror stories?

my favorites tend to be frontier & southwest - mostly timely, more pitch, friendly service, etc
i hate US Air, mainly because I went on a 5 year string where they were pretty much all I had and almost every flight had an issue from luggage on a different plane, to the plane bumping another making contact, to stupid flight schedules - just horrific

My favourite is British Airways- love the staff, not so keen on the people at the top.
I'll try and avoid Virgin, and I've flown chartered flights and they are my least pleasant experience.

Singapore Airlines almost always tops the list of best airlines, from my experience I have to agree.
Worst, I don't remember the poll results but it could be US Air for domestic. Some of the local subsidieary airlines of the giants are pretty bad - ASA, American Eagle, etc. Plenty of international airlines that are really really bad of course, Aeroflot maybe. Quantis rates pretty low.

I like the Asian Airlines, like Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, etc.
Lufthansa, British Airways and Swiss are also nice, friendly staff, modern and clean aircraft.

Hate USair (US Scare)! Used to live near Charlotte and didn't really have much of a choice! But me and the kids were flying home from Australia, took the from SFO to Phoenix and then to Austin. We were the very last row of the plane, which still had ashtrays (baffled the kids) with something leaking out from under the lavatories that didn't smell too good!
Prefer Southwest and American if in the US, Air New Zealand and Quantas generally have great people, decent food and great on demand entertainment!

I usually fly United, American, or Southwest as they are the largest airlines in Southern California and fly to where I usually go nonstop. Don't really have too many complaints with either of these three. I always carry on so I never have my luggage lost and most of my flights are on time (although there aren't really weather delays in So Cal). My husband flies United the most for business out of their LAX hub and says they are good, but he gets the extra perks of a frequent flyer.

Amazingly, Southwest doesnt only do the southwest. They do as far north as Seattle and as far northeast as Boston. Weird.
