Best way to go to Las Vegas?
How can you find the cheapest airline tickets plus hotel?
I can leave from Newark airport or NYC airport. I can go basically any time during the summer. Doesnt even matter what days, but i would like to go from 4 days to a week.
hotel needs to be somewhat near casino
where should i start?

In the summer you'll already be a leg up. Anything after memorial day will start to get into the slow season. As long as there isn't a major convention in town you should be OK.
The most expensive rooms are on Friday night and Saturday night.
Most hotels will be casino properties both on and off the strip (although there are exceptions to this - but it holds true for more major spots)

Try using one of the travel websites; Kayak, Travelocity to name a few. They often book a combo of flight and hotel.
If you don't plan on renting a car while you're there, most hotels from the strip have their shuttle buses to take you to and from the airport.

We are going out in 2 mo and I have found the best rates on Southwest and Air Tran. You have to go to these individual websites for fares, because they are not on Travelocity, Expedia etc. These websites also have combo offers with hotels and cars if you want. Read the fine print for Southwest - their best rates are for travel on certain days, so if you are flexible that is great.

Your flight can be as little as $230 or so. (travelocity search using flexible dates for June thru August)
Your hotel can be $23 during the week and $76 on weekends. (the plaza hotel casino)
All your ground transportation could be $15.00 for three days. (rtc southern nevada - the city bus system that takes you ANYWHERE!)
I've visited Vegas numerous times AND used to live there up until last summer. You can have a great time, enjoy all the hotels and casinos without spending a fortune.

You can also go to funjet vacations and see if they are offered in your area...then it lets you choose the hotel you want. Years ago, some of the best trips I took to Las Vegas were thru funjet. I get hotel offers every day, so I know they need some business! I hope to go a little later in the year for a few days. If you have never been to Vegas, you will probably have a lot of fun. I love going, and Im not a gambler. The last two times, Ive gone alone, and had a lot of fun, and felt very safe doing so. Enjoy! Dot

Going to Vegas from NYC....did you know that Atlantic City is pretty much like Vegas, you have pretty much the same of everything there?
Anyway, even for me, Id prefer to fly, even though its only about a 2-3 hr drive, but you dont need a car. You can stay at a hotel right on the strip and walk everywhere or maybe catch a cab if youre going further out. Heck, there are slot machines at the airport, lol! And they are always running specials on expedia.com, so you can do pretty good in finding a vacation package.

No it isn't ....... not even close ...... not even close to being close
i've spent a lot of time in AC (was a cheap and easy train ride from Philly) and there are many things I prefer to it than Vegas ....... but the scene couldn't be more different

I don't think they serve NYC per se, but Alliant Air has some pretty good packages, they concentrate on smaller towns though. It might be possible to combine a flight with a small regional airline or take the train to someplace they fly from.

Book a package tour.
A few weeks ago, 2 nights RT was $229 out of Chicago, 4 days for $309. You can barely get a tocket for that. Funjet, Apple Vacations and a number of websites all offer similar deals.
