Has anyone been to Atlantis or had friends visit? We are attempting to plan a trip there, but want to get some feedback.

I'm actually in the Bahamas now and familiar with the Atlantis. It is great if you have kids and want to keep them busy with lots of activities. The Casino is on the small side in comparison to Vegas but fun. It's not cheap and if I had the choice I would go somewhere else besides the Bahamas.

I would agree with Chefmb, great for kids, but very expensive!

We went to Paradise Island, but didn't stay at Atlantis. We did have dinner there one evening and found the food to be marginal but horribly overpriced.

I know people that went as a family and loved it. I guess there are tons of things to do and the water pools and features are supposed to be pretty great.

I took a tour of the complex as part of a cruise ship excursion. What hit me was how expensive the food was everywhere. I was just shocked. There seems to be no inexpensive places to eat on the whole island. There is a fancy outdoor shopping center next to the resort and all the restaurants are at least $40 for even the cheapest real meal. A Hamburger is $25. Expect to spend a minimum of $100 a day for food per person.

The food is expensive all over the islands, but the Atlantis is really expensive because it is a resort and you cannot walk next door for other restaurant options easily. You CAN take a cab into town though, so certainly you can avoid that major expense for all but breakfast. With that said, the whole property is beautiful!! Getting to the Bahamas is cheaper than other islands, and there does seem to be good deals going on.

Atlantis really is the most beautiful resort in the Bahamas - with plenty of activities for the whole family. While Nassau would not be my first choice, the Atlantis would be the best choice on the island if you can afford the expensive food prices.

BTW - St Thomas would be my first choice - lots to do, reasonably priced and pretty safe.

I've looked into booking there several times and each time decided not to because it's ridiculously overpriced.

You can got to a really nice all inclusive on any number of Caribbean Islands for the cost of a room alone at Atlantis.
