HI all, has anyone ever missed their flight on US Airways? If so, can you tell me what happens? Do they just put you on standby for the next flight? Are there any charges etc?

Thanks

It depends on why you missed the flight, what your FF status is with them, and how nice the gate agent feels.

Best case scenario is they put you on the next flight even if it means bumping someone else off. Worst care is you sit for two days until there is a flight with an available seat, and charge you the difference in fare. Usually it's something inbetween.

If you are circumventing the rules of the ticket, beware they may nail you for a new ticket.
There is a stand by charge but not sure how much.
Forget about trying to standby for a day other than what is on your ticket. If it is a last flight of the night scenario maybe.

Good Luck

If you purposely miss the flight they will probably make you buy a full fare ticket and only apply the unused portion of the current paid fare to it. I can almost guarantee it will be less than the change fees.

Also they can cancel your return for being a no-show...

I agree that kind of stinks, I wish they'd relax their changing rules as well and go more like SWA. Otherwise they are just scaring off passengers like yourself.

it's only a 2 hour difference. Why can't you make the flight reserved?

Why is it outrageous? Clearly airlines ARE sometimes outrageous, but you know the rules here about unrefundable tickets. So follow the rules or pay up.
