I feel and see it necessary at this point to step in, and remind EVERYONE to get BACK on topic, and refrain from ANY name calling in the future.

Actually, none of their seats are first class, but why should we let a minor detail like accuracy get in the way?

We have flown First Class three times (twice overseas) simply by asking for it. However, the last time that worked was in 2004 and before there were so few flights and they were so full. We were also on our honeymoon so we could play that angle with the ticket agent in Paris.

Now when we get an upgrade, it's because of our status with Nowthwest. We're flying First to Hawaii in a few months but we used points for that.

It looks like the days of freebies (not just upgrades) on airlines are gone for good.
