Where to go with Cool weather in June-August?
This time of the year, the southern hemisphere, in regions that are 30 degrees and greater in latitude below the equator, since it's winter down there, and like somebody mentioned, South America is a good place.

I'd like to correct many here who used "altitude" to refer to the elevation levels. Technically, altitude is an aviation term used to refer to how high above sea level an aircraft is, elevation is the proper term to use when you refer to how high a location is above sea level. Altitude and elevation are different terms.

Im guessing someplace 'cooler' might be some areas of Canada, maybe Alaska, I know there are many places in the midwest that dont generally hit over 85 degrees during the summer months.

Default sosua and cabarete a place with cool weather in June and August

I've been in the Dominican Republic, it has very good weather, If a vacation on the beach is of interest to the traveler, the North Coast is perhaps the best destination to visit. The white sands coupled with the warm hospitality of the people make this place a perfect spot for a vacation. you must go to the north coast of the Dominican Republic, with a tropical party all weekend at the Sosua Bay Beach Resort hotel and Cabatere are the best about Watersports aficionados will also find what they're looking for too. Windsurfung (excellent in the Caberete area), snorkeling, parasailing, sailing, scuba diving and deep sea fishing are all readily available.

What's this all about? Thailand?

I was there five years ago in July and after 5 days I couldn't have taken another day of that suffocating heat and humidity. It's as bad as Houston in the summer, if not worse.

Someone suggested Maine and the NE. I was going to suggest that too, until I saw your criteria. It probably meets all your recommendations except pubs and nightlife. There are places to drink, but coastal Maine basically shuts down at 9 pm. We toured the coast for a week last August and the weather was FANTASTIC!!! 70's to low 80's during the day, and you needed a sweatshirt at night. Scenery - beautiful!! Plenty of shopping and hiking available. The one downside is that it is kind of pricey. Their 'season' is July and August, so you will not find any bargains. A decent, basic hotel averaged us $100 a night and you will not find any Holiday Inn's etc.

We really did enjoy Maine alot.

Thailand is too hot n steamy for me (and I'm not in the travel industry). I'm sitting on the balcony, presently 15 celcius, sunny, and I'm 1/2 way packing the car to go to the local ski resort's opening weekend parties. Try southern Australia - the airfare pricewar is wonderful.
