I usually manage two week long vacations with some long weekends in between.

Two foreign holidays a year and a couple of domestic ones as well. We tend to spend 4 weeks on our main vacation in the Fall, 2 or 3 weeks in the Spring and week long ones in the UK.

We get 32 days a year plus up to 3 days off a month in overtime taken as leave plus Bank Holidays which mean we can really stretch it out as much as possible by being clever with the timing of it.

We squeeze every tiny last drop out of our holiday and never spend any time off at home if we can avoid it and tend to come home literally the night before due at work again .

We travel at least once a month. We live in San Diego, so even when we're not traveling, it's like being on vacation!

I try to do 2 vacations a year. I always try to travel some place otherwise, it isn't a vacation to me. March of this year, I did an 11 day tour of Egypt and in mid-summer, I'll do 2 Globus tours back-to-back. I can't wait to do those.

Are you kidding? VacationS - in plural. You probably don't live in America. We get one, maybe two per year.

We get two weeks paid vacation, and I hate it. Actually, after November, I will have three weeks to use up somehow that year. I don't have anywhere I WANT to go, so I just stay in town...usually I put it towards a second job, and give them more of my time. I can't help but think that I'm not pulling my weight by taking time off. I would much rather get two weeks pay, then two weeks paid vacation.

Take some time - go traveling - go to the beach. Go Camping. Go to Europe.

Have fun.

Where I use to work I was getting 5 weeks vacation a year. At any given time I usually had about 8 weeks vacation time on the books. My boss was always begging me to use it as he was needing to reduce payroll and the vacation time had already been written off.

There's too much work to be done to be taking vacations. Taking vacations feels like stealing money--unless you're NOT getting paid for them, and then I'd rather have the work. You're getting paid...and you're NOT working. Bad combination.

I remember a job where they were cutting hours, and I'd come in just long enough to get the job done and leave again...only worked about 4 hour days.
