I had a very odd experience earlier this year. A friend was flying from South Carolina, and I live in Texas. We both went on line to check out rental cars at Houston airport. We both did it over an over again, and every time, I got about $80 cheaper rate quotation than she did, for exactly the same car, same terms, same company, same flight number, same pickup point, everything.. We got on the phone coordinating it, and we wound up with me reserving the car in her name, then she picked it up.
I have no idea what's up with that. The online reservation service was reading our IP addresses, and quoting different rates according to where were were booking from, I guess. I think it was Budget.
