Airplane situation these days = Movie "The Core" realized.
I mean, we've got planes going down from bird strikes (Hudson landing), planes apparently breaking up in midair (Air France), inexplicable crashes (millionaire that crashed), planes going missing, etc...there are just a lot of plane incidents these days. It reminds me eerily of the movie "The Core". If anyone has seen that movie, near the beginning, you know what I'm talking about.

If the media reported everything that happened just in the US alone you'd be pretty surprised.

I know that, I'm not referring to the number of incidents but rather the nature of them. Between Air France and that millionaire, trust me...people at work are not trying to fly anywhere these days.

There are still more road/car accidents than ones with aircraft.

Again, I'm not worried about the quantity of reported/unreported incidents. I'm concerned about the type of incidents. Random things that just should not happen.
Just the other day a random hole opened up in the top of the plane? Come on...there's no way a properly maintained plane should have random holes opened up.
Then this:
Not So Cool: LL Quarantined in KC | TMZ.com
Fuel leaks?
Come on now. These planes aren't being maintained, and that's a problem, seeing as they are the primary source of major transportation.

Keep reading. It clearly says Maintenance related fatigue failure. As in, plane not properly maintained. Also it was flown past its duty cycle, way too old to be in circulation...yet another maintenance issue.
Now re-read what I said. I said a properly maintained plane should not have a random hole open in the top. One that nobody can yet explain. Aloha was easily explained.
