need ideas for a november vacation
hi all
i have a lot of vacation left this year but can't really take any days off until november. therefore i'm looking for ideas. it would probably have to be more of a "sightseeing/relaxation" trip than a party-vacation since most of my friends are broke and i'd most likely have to travel by myself. i don't mind doing so since i've done it before and it was fun, but i just can't think of anything good. i don't even care if it's via train/plane/car. i live in central new jersey.
- vegas by myself doesn't sound right.
- i was thinking about driving up to canada, spend some time in toronto and montreal and watch a hockey game (i love hockey).
- i like to watch almost every sport tho when i can see it live at the arena.
- i could visit friends in miami for a weekend or so, but since i lived down there until half a year ago, i really don't need to spend a lot of time down there.
- of the "major" cities i've seen dallas, chicago, san diego, miami, nyc, philly, denver, vegas and DC.
- i've been all over kansas, western oklahoma, western missouri, eastern colorado and northern texas
- i visited folks in germany last winter, so i also don't really wanna go there again when it's cold.
- i was thinking about going on a cruise since i've never been, but that doesn't really excite me either.
- i have never been to new england, seattle or san francisco so that might be an idea.
any ideas or suggestions are welcome

San Francisco is a wonderful place to take a vacation to in the USA.
If you are interested in a big city vacation outside the USA how about London or Paris.
If you are interested in beaches & history how about Israel.
If you are interested in beaches & wildlife how about Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands.

I never get tired of San Francisco, and there is a lot to do in the surrounding area. On top of that, the weather can be quite pleasant there at that time of year.
We're going to New Orleans at the end of October. The weather there is very pleasant then, as well.

San Francisco and the Wine Country in Sonoma and Napa Counties would be lovely that time of year...brisk but not really cold. Maybe some of the vines would still be golden...a lovely sight...or rent a car and drive twisty US 1 up to Mendocino, a seaside village that looks just like New England. A rough rocky coast peopled with lots of artists creating unusual crafts, especially pottery. Plenty of snug inns to stay in. Great food...emphasis on fresh and locally grown. Salmon...hmmmm---and local duck...this part of California reminds one much of regions in France or Spain but closer to home...

You should try a Cruise. The Prices have never been better. There is a Royal Caribbean ship that leaves from Bayonne. The Ship has everything that you can imagine on it, ce skating shows, rock climbing wall, broadway shows, entertainment, casino, and all your food is included.
The Explorer from NJ has some really good pricing in NOV. I used to live in Manalapan, but moved to Nashville 3 years ago. I have been on 15 cruises, and #16 is booked.

here's a funny thing. i have been working in the cruise business for more than two years now, but i have never been on a cruise i still don't really like the idea of being "stuck" on a boat for a week
right now i like the idea of spending a few days in san fran and waikiki.

I agree with you ... we are doing a 14 day cruise in November. The deals you can get right now are unreal.
Rep points for you.

I feel its hard to work in the Cruise business and have not cruised. Now, I work for a full service Travel Agency that used to be just cruises but now as a large variety of land packages, including pre cruise hotels, tours and even Air.
I've been cruising since 1995, but have been an agent since 2000, after I finished a course in Travel and Tourism at a community college where I used to live.
How can you sell a cruise if you feel you are stuck on a boat? You need to think of the ship as a large luxury hotel that moves you from destination to destination, and entertains you on the way. I know people that never even get off tthe ship. It has pools , restaurants, clubs, a spa,. Anything you would find in a luxury resort. I have gone on RCCL, Celebrity, Carnival. Princess , Holland America , and NCL, I did this to fit a client with a ship. I would love someday to go on Cunard and some of the more high end lines. I've toured some though, and had lunch.
