Where to Take a Vacation?
Hey everybody,
Our family is planning for Christmas vacation and can't quite figure out where to go. We have 4 teenagers who are very active. Sightseeing isn't quite the thing for us. We are looking for somewhere warm (Caribbean maybe?) and luxurious. We want a really nice resort with all the good stuff. I have done some research on Atlantis but I feel it might be too cold in December (I would prefer something a bit warmer than the 70's). We have also considered Hawaii but would rather not waste so much time flying. Anybody have a recommendation of a great place to go with a ton of things to do? Sorry for the long post and thanks for any input.

Playa del Carmen Mexico, south of Cancun. Not quite the party atmosphere of Cancun. Might be a little chilly swimming but certainly warmer than the Bahamas. Not sure what you consider sightseeing? What about Mayan ruins, local shopping, snorkeling, fishing, animal park, jungle tours by 4-wheeler, cave tour, you can take the ferry to Cozumel for the day, or just hang at an all-inclusive hotel and do the non-motorized water sports like catamarans, kayaks, or take a windsurfing lesson. Some have trampolines on the water. Lots of restaurants if you want variety from the all-inclusive. They have evening entertainment also. Talk to a travel agent about what you want and what price range. They will hook you up with the right resort.

I'm not just saying this because I live here.....but Orlando, FL has to be one of the best tourist spots in the world. The things to do from the well known theme parks to local stuff is just excellent. Plus, there are so many great package deals available. It is also only an hour drive to either the gulf or to Daytona Beach.

How about the Cayman Islands or Jamaica? Average high in Grand Cayman during the month of December is 83 with a low of 75... not too shabby!
The flight to either place is about 1 1/2 hours from Miami or 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta, so you won't feel like you spend your entire vacation in the air.
I have been to both Grand Cayman and Jamaica. Both are nice destinations however, Grand Cayman is a little cleaner and safer. Jamaica however, has some great all-inclusive resorts. I would give your travel agent a call to see what kind of deals they are running in December.

Atlantis. Perfect for all ages, it will be plenty warm. I would also consider renting a villa at Tryall in Jamaica - comes with chef and housekeeping and amazing beaches and views with things for teens and adults.
