Considering a trip to Montreal soon and wonder if anyone has some inexpensive ideas. I know I can fly from Norfolk but am considering flying as far north with Airtran and then renting a car and driving the rest of the way. Any thoughts?

Oooops!. Just discovered that Airtran flights to Burlington, Vt. are seasonal. So informed by the less than English speaking, speed talker on Airtrans information line.

Try JetBlue. Do they serve your airport?

I'm not certain if Jetblue flies out of Richmond but I'll check. Do you know how far a drive it is to Montreal from Burlington?

Personally, I would take Southwest into Buffalo and look for a train or bus to Montreal.

Nearly any fare into Canada will be saddled with significant fees and taxes. On the other hand, car rentals in Canada are generally less than you will find in New York.

Airfares into the area around Montreal (in the US) are pretty steep as there is little competition (or volume).

Burlington is about 1/5-2 hours from Montreal depending on border waits. Buffalo is not all convenient to Montreal.

Looking at some random dates, there are some $250 flights into Burlington on US Airways.
