Anyone know if they are likely to rise further? I have been looking at continental to fly to NYC in June and it's gone up 50 per person in the last week...should I wait or will they keep rising?

thanks for any help/info much appreciated

Usually the low season with the cheapest prices to fly is January-March.

that's so true, last time I flew to NYC was February and now I'm gonna pay twice as much
but all in all I sincerely doubt they're gonna lower the prices

Not necessarily. Last time I flew in June, the prices peaked at a ridiculous amount but then started coming down again. They vary all the time.

I flew from Maine to JFK in May for $89 pp round trip, with all taxes and fees included on Jet Blue. Right now I believe it is going for about $150.

Overseas flights that cost our family $ 4,000 pre-9/11 are nearing $ 6,000.
Doing that now is next to impossible.

It helps to shop around--and be flexible.
I agree that fares are variable.
Sign up with Yapta.
We flew out of JAX to France for $642 after taxes per person in May of this year.
It would have been cheaper if we had driven to Orlando.

My kid took Jetblue out of JAX to NYC in July, I think it was $200 after taxes.

I would love to fly Virgin Airlines.
For mid-June 2010, Virgin has, leaving London for NYC:
366.10
In US dollars:
$595.49
In euros:
€404.43

Airfares and other travel costs are DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY from a year ago. Prices fluctuate constantly and if you don't like the way the prices look today, there will be a better deal next week.

From my experience that isn't true. I fly to Chicago frequently and can't get a flight for less than 600 sterling or maybe $800 for next July and similar for Christmas. I usually pay about 450 GBP and have booked as late as a week in advance at relatively busy times for less than it's costing for July.

I know we had a bubble when Oil rallied and the dollar has a big impact on UK prices, but I was looking just a few weeks ago and I found quotes of not much more than 400. The pound to dollar is ok, 1.64s or so is higher than it has been recently, certainly since Jan, so it can't be that and oil hasn't gone anyway dangerous.

So I'd love to know, I can only assume it's some kind of tax in the US.
