How to pack for flying
I may be traveling within the US and want to know how to pack.
I would be taking a laptop in its own bag with me and a small bag with a few days worth of clothes, my cell phone and my electric razor. Nothing more.
Am I better off carrying both on or just carry the laptop on and check the small bag in?

I wouldn't part with any of it. Take it on board.

I have not flown in many years and that is what I normally would have done years ago. However, I want to know if they're going to confiscate the electric razor, the cell phone and the wall charger for the cell phone. I've heard all sorts of cracking down on what you can and can't take with you on the plane.

We just returned from a trip to Nashville - and we generally fly somewhere about 3-4 times a year (vacations). What was different this trip - airline wanted to charge us for a checked bag. Since we always travel light, small bag, we decided to take our bag as carry-on. We left out of Newark NJ. Electric razor should be no problem, and I always have a cell-phone charger or 2 - this trip we had 2, one was for the car (we each have a cell phone). Make sure you use travel size toothpaste, shampoos, etc.; no matches, no nail clippers/scissors, etc. and you should have no problems. Think of the things you REALLY NEED, not just want. Pack light. Even if you plan to pay the fee and check your bag, the airlines are assessing overweight charges.

I don't know about the electric razor, but the cell phone and the charger will be fine.

We always carry on. We've been on over 30 flights so far this year, with many more upcoming ones. Even with 2 weeks in Europe, we don't check bags and bring just one carry on each. Most airlines will charge you to check bags, and the unfortunate thing is more people are now carrying on, causing there to be no room for bags on board. Our flight was delayed this weekend because of this.

If your bag is too large they will put a tag on it when you go through check in at the top of the boarding ramp. You leave your bag at the bottom of the ramp by the door into the plane and they will put it in the luggage hold. After the flight you wait at the same place you left the bag and they will bring it back to you.
The thing I find interesting about this: We are warned constantly not to leave our bags anywhere. To have them in our possession at all times. Then they tell us to just leave them sitting at the bottom of this ramp by an open door and go into the plane. LMAO!
