rental cars- what is going on?

The time of day that you say you will be picking up the car can affect the price. A couple days ago I save $180 for the week by getting my car at 8pm instead of noon.

It's possible to get exceptional rates for flights and hotels- catch promos, online search engines, etc.

But I've not come up with anything for car rentals. I've booked Hertz for 3 days for 160 bucks, oh, it's not but 35 a day but by the time they add on all the fees/taxes/etc, the price is almost doubled.

Anyone have any good 'promo codes' or coupon codes for Hertz or other rental car companies? This would be Thurs thru Sun.

Rates do change depending on the season. Airlines, hotels, and rental car companies know a lot of people will be travelling on Thanksgiving weekend, so they increase the rates, sometimes up to 70% higher, which is ridiculous, since some may not be able to afford to pay that inflated rate to go see family.
