Agree. During the past year - went to the US for xmas. Were living in Uganda and we took many long weekends (wouldn't count those), but we also took two 2 week long safaris with our families who came to see Uganda. In 10 days we go to Australia for a month, then to the US for xmas. So that counts as 5 for a year.
I would think a trip would have to be at least a week to count.

Every summer we go somewhere - a cruise or a combo fly/drive trip to a new area of the US. Our last child is a senior in high school this year, so our trips may start to change and become more together time for DH and myself, vs family type vacations.

I consider travel out of state and out of country. To the next city or town I call that just a road trip just to get out of your own town for the day.

During every other summer, I kidnap one of my nephews and go away for the week.
During the balance of the year, I go away 4-6 times at a minimum.

Well, besides the travel I do to and from work, there are probably at least six other times each year that I travel at least 250 miles from home. This year I've taken two trips to Las Vegas (~300 miles one way), a long road trip through the states of CA, NV, UT, CO, WY, MT, and ID, and several other trips up north that were 150 miles or more each way. Let's see, I went to Roseville, Stockton (2x), and Madera (3x) this summer, but one of the times I went to Stockton was on my return trip from my multi-state road trip. In total that makes 8 trips this year, not counting the ones I've probably forgotten.

We go somewhere at least once a month. It's unlike us to not have a trip planned and booked at any given time. We have trips booked until January, and are trying to figure out what to do in February.
I met my now husband in 2006, and since then, we have been to 44 states and 11 countries together, with many more to come. We love to travel and do it as often as we can. And I'm not counting road trips to a neighboring city as travel, though we do frequent Santa Monica/Malibu/Santa Barbara and other driveable places from San Diego frequently.

Lets see in '09 we have travelled to Bahamas, Indiana twice, Mexico and Argentina. So definitely more than a couple times a year. We love where we live but cant sit in one place very long! I don't count Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Orlando since we live in Florida.
In '10 we have planned San Francisco and Italy so far. Probably will go to Mexico again as well, we got married there and tend to go almost yearly.

I travel every weekend for work. Besides the long boring drive(I'm the driver) I can enjoy what city has to offer. The people, the food, the city itself, casinos, the beach, etc. Oh and I definetly enjoy my free, nice hotel room. Its very nice, its my dream job that I actually have! I'm young(in my 20s) and my family did absolutely no travel when I was growing up. So I made it my mission to have travel in my life. My hard work paid off and here I am. Outside work I do no travel at all, but once I get my career on track(after school....) and make some real money that will change.

Wow! I'm so glad I'm not alone in the fact that it is commonplace for me to travel once a month, if not every other month. Especially road trips. Lets see.... in 2009, I have been to...
(1 & 2)Raleigh, NC for New Years and again for Inauguration Day (20 Jan) for a snow day (they had 6 inches and I don't get to see snow that often considering I live in Coastal Georgia), then in february I drove to (3)Buffalo to see friends and did a day trip from there to Toronto. Then drove to (4)Jacksonville to see a friend for a day towards the end of march/beginning of april (hardly counts as its only about 2 1.2 hours/130 miles from me), then went to (5)Montgomery, AL to see family for Memorial Day and from there drove to (6)Miami, about a good 11-12hr drive, for the remainder of my Memorial Day weekend. Flew out to (7)Las Vegas for a job interview in june. Drove to (8)Chicago in july to see the city for the first time and visit with a friend who had recently relocated there. Drove from there to Buffalo (7 hrs) to visit with friends again and to see their new house. A week later I drove to (9)Key West for a few days, took a day long excursion to the Dry Tortugas via boat while there, then wrapped up that trip with a night in Miami (I count that as part of the KW trip). In august, I drove to (10)Austin for the first time and saw another friend who had recently relocated. Finally, my last trip so far this year was to (11)Tuscaloosa, Alabama to see the Univ. of Alabama's homecoming game against South Carolina with my cousin.
So, that would be 11 trips so far this year. One every month. I don't have any more planned for the year, but I'm trying to decide on a major trip for the beginning of next year. Either out to Colorado or to Northern New England (I haven't yet been to VT,NH or ME; the only states on the eastern seaboard I haven't been to). Yes, I know it will be the worst time of the year to drive to those parts of the country, but lodging is a lot cheaper and I absolutely LOVE experiencing colder, winter-like weather. I also have snow driving experience which helps indefinitely.

Just remembered, I took a trip to Fort Lauderdale to see a friend (Pembroke Pines, really) in late april. That brings my total up to 12 trips this year.
