My girlfriend and I are going to be stopping there on our cruise. Figure we'd fine the location for snorkeling rather than spending $$$ on the excursion fee. I've done this before on Culebra Island near the main island of Puerto Rico, so just wondering if anyone has the scoop on where to find it?

I don't believe the Bahamas offers anything that could be considered "good snorkeling". Maui was amazing, Nassau (where we stopped on our cruise) wasn't even worth the time.

I looked this up for you... a little vicarious on my part *big smile!*

Here are some beach reviews - describing some off the beaten path destinations: Nassau Beaches: 10Best Beach Reviews <- Love Beach has the most interesting review with good "insider" tips!

Similar review on Love Beach here, with some additional great tips about "getting around" ---> "For great snorkeling, try Love Beach near Gambier Village, about 12 miles west of downtown Nassau."

Thanks very much! Love Beach looks like the place to go, especially if you don't want to be harassed by solicitors. Anyone try to access the private beach through Compass Point? Some have said that if you buy a drink at the bar, they won't hassle you if you try to access the beach.
