AVOID AlItalia! Under every circumstance and on any occasion. Each and every time I have heard an AlItalia story either on the internet or firsthand from someone who flew them, nothing but troubles ensued.
The airline is bankrupt, hasn't been able to find a buyer, and is wholly and completely unreliable in every respect. Stay away.
None of the above. I've flown with Icelandair (very good, punctual and efficient if not particularly warm & fuzzy); Air Canada (adequate) and British Airways (direct flight into an awesome terminal but they do have a tendency to lose luggage).
I've had your normal flight experience with AirFrance, SAS and Lufthansa. As the pp suggested, avoid Alitalia. Never, ever will we fly them again, even if they are considerably cheaper.
If you do not mind, what's wrong with AlItalia, examples, please.
Are the rest of them about the same on luggage, food, service?
IcelandAir, Air Canada and BA probably a little bit more expensive, at least they are not on top of the list. I am economy class passenger, if it matters
why is it better? read some reviews at airlinequality.com ;-)
Well, AlItalia looks a little bit different from other carriers according to the mentioned site... Folks complaining about FA not showing up often, my best flight in this regard was when I took 3 seats(plane was half empty) and slept for something, like 6-7 hrs out of 9
I've recently flown to/from Europe via Indian Airlines (go figure) and Aer Lingus. Both had acceptable service. Indian Airlines was a LOT cheaper than any other alternatives. Aer Lingus wasn't bad either.
