Wow, some of the examples in this thread sounds really dangerous. Driving while you are falling asleep is very dangerous to both the driver and all the cars around them.

You might've heard that 38 thousand people were killed on the roads in 2015:
2015 Brought Biggest Percent Increase in U.S. Traffic Deaths in 50 Years

I hope most of them were not on vacation...

I regularly drive from Raleigh to Little Rock and back, mama and brother still live out there. That's roughly 875 miles, takes about 14.5 hours stops included. Pretty brutal in the final ~3 hour stretch approaching Memphis. Ugly flat scenery hot and buggy truckers slowing you down, yuck.

In 7 days I'm going to drive from Raleigh to Boston, Boston down to Augusta GA then back to Raleigh. Thanksgiving hitting 2 family dinners. Older brother will be driving with me. Should be fun.

I prefer night driving so I normally drive through the night. Last long trip was about 400 miles. I've done 600-700 miles trips this way. The longest I've done is probably a 1400 miles trip with a noon time nap in between the 23 hours of driving. That was when I was much younger and used to the driving as I drove 200+ miles commuting daily.

If you are driving those long stretches of open highway, you really should have someone in the passenger seat to talk to you and keep you mentally alert.

1,024 miles from just west of Boston MA to just east of Augusta, GA. It took around 17 hours if I remember correctly. Maybe longer. It was brutal. My back and ass were killing me. Never doing that again!!

I did about 950 miles from Yonkers, NY to Moline, IL. Took about 14-15 hours. That's about the max I'd like to do in one day, however I could've done more.

Roughly, 6-7 hours at most. I start to get pretty fatigued after this point. I’ve done 10-12 hour drives, but probably won’t again.
