I just flew from Prague to NYC on a Delta flight. This had to be the worst security screening I have ever been through. No one had to take their shoes off, and when I asked the guy working there says, "You people do that in the US, we don't screen shoes here." Nice, right? Everyone had boots, and you can stuff pretty much anything you want in those boots and get on the flight.

He then asks me if I have bomb making equipment in my bag! I thought he was joking, but it appears that it's a standard question that they ask, but don't check the bags!

During the flight, people were getting up the entire time, including up to 5 minutes before landing to access the carry on baggage and bathrooms and not one flight attendant said anything. This was an American airline, with an American crew, and the same one that was responsible for that guy with the bomb in December so you would think they would follow these things more closely.

No one was told to not leave their seat during the last hour. In fact, not one announcement was made from the pilots during the duration of the entire flight, something I've never experienced before.

The US can screen us all they want. The terrorists are not boaring the flights in the US, but in other countries. Clearly, the European nations are not following these regulations and we will continue to have attempted attacks on American airlines coming fro Europe. Makes you feel safe, doesn't it?

The American Government has no control over the airport screening procedures outside the USA. They can only make recommendations to foreign governments.
As for the security during the flight itself, it is at the captain of aircraft's discretion if s/he wants the passengers to stay in their seats during the last hour of the flight before landing.

UK Airports do have increased screening - try going thro Heathrow's Terminal 3 sometime and you'll see. You have to present your passport and boarding pass, then queue to put all your carry-on items in a tray and walk thro the electronic scanner showing your passport and boarding pass to the security people, then take your shoes off and put them thro another machine, then present your passport and boarding pass one more time before they let you into the departure hall.

The UK is unlike the rest of Europe. They are more like the US. The last problem was out of Amsterdam, which I assure you to this day does not screen properly. Neither does Krakow, Prague and Frankfurt.
