Hi everybody! I'm planning a week long trip to Cracow, and need some informations. I'm thinking... what's the best season to go there, what interesting and unique I can see there, and what I can do there (what sports). I'd also appreciate some infor about accomodation, I've heard from friends of mine, that Aston Hostel is worth checking out, they said that it's close to the city centre, with cozy rooms and friendly staff. Do you know something about it? Thanks from any heads up.

I was just there on Thursday. I can tell you, don't go in the winter. It was brutally cold! Summer is the most popular time, but also the most crowded. Spring and fall (April, May, Sept, Oct) are your best bets, with mild weather. Just know that Krakow is a tourist trap and the prices there are much, much higher than in the rest of Poland.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel, which is right in the center of the city. You can walk everywhere and there are tons of stores and restaurants around there. The museums and castles are very close as well. Definitely visit some of the castles there. They are spectacular.

The #1 thing people do there is take a tour to Auschwitz. You can buy tour tickets pretty much anywhere, including at the hotel, and you take a bus to get there. Eat lots of Polish food. The street food there is the zapiekanka and you'll find them sold out of windows on the streets all over the city.

If you're there for an entire week, I highly recommend a side trip to Zakopane. It's one of the most beautiful cities in Poland and one that tourists tend to miss. It's less than 2 hours by train or bus from Krakow. Have fun! I grew up there and took many trips to Krakow as a child.

If some of you is still looking for some nice accomodation in Cracow - I recommend Panda Hostel. It is in Kazimierz, it has very helpful staff and wide choice of rooms. It is cheap and has breakfast included in the price. Had great fun there!
