Hi everyone!

I hope you can help me out with the below.

My wife and I got married last Feb. We want to take a trip to Mexico in April. She has changed her name and now has my last name. Her passport still has her madien name though. What is the proper procedure to make sure we don't encounter any issues/delays?

Thanks for the help!
Brian

Life will be easier if you use the maiden name since it matches her passport. A friend of mine was stopped at Kennedy when hers didn't match, and this was several years ago, before the tightened security. She was told she should have brought her marriage certificate with her to smooth the process, but was eventually allowed to board.

Book her ticket in her maiden name. I recently had a similar problem (my passport still has my maiden name, but my ticket was booked in my married name).

You CAN book the ticket in her married name IF she brings a copy of her marriage license.

The name on the ticket has to be the exact same one as in one's current identification document.

Agree. The ticket and ID must match. If Jane Doe on ticket and Jane Smith on ID, they will stop you. TSA does allow exceptions after checking if midle name is missing on one or other, or if you have Jane Doe-Smith on one of the documents and have your marriage licenese, but if the last names are not a match, they will pull you out of line until your identity can be confirmed. Dont risk it, use the same name on ticket as on your ID.

One's middle name doesn't need to be on the ticket. But the first & last names on the ticket need to match whatever is on one's official identification.

I confirm she'll have to use the name written on her passport.

the name on the passport is the only thing that matters, the ticket and passport have to match
