Purchasing tickets online- no printer so must pick them up at the station.

Greyhound:
Pick up tickets at the following station no later than one hour prior to boarding.

Do you 'really' have to pick them up 1 hour prior to? If you are 30 minutes late will they just say you can't go or how does that work?

Show up an hour early. The station personnel have no idea how many people will actually be riding, how many packages they will be stuffing into storage etc. If they run out of room before you present yourself your reservation can be cancelled. In this community which has NO train service, poor bus service, dwindling and unreliable air service and lots and lots of college students, those buses fill up, believe me.

Default Soldier stranded by Greyhound - going overseas

Soldier going overseas in a few days and was able to come home during an extended{few days} layover at ATL [traveling w/ battle buddy who wanted to stop to see family so my soldier could come up this way, too]

Greyhound was the cheapest way and not too bad- just the 7 hour drive (would have been 4-5 doing a self drive)

Tickets purchased online hours before departure. Travel alert was on site displaying ALL affected routes. They were all up north so nothing to worry about for Atlanta to Salisbury, NC....sunny 50 degrees! No snow or ice.

Next morning when appeared at window to get ticket- nothing was said.
When arrived at first stop- nothing was said.
When arrived at second stop-nothing.
When arrived at Charlotte NC-nothing was said. Soldier waited by the bus for the 20 minute layover. Driver didn't come back.

30 minutes later the driver came back saying it was going to be at least another 2 hours....why? Snow in NY.

The soldier's stop was just 30 minutes up the road.... New York?

The bus was to arrive at 3:55pm and the party started at 5pm...."going away" - place rented, food, family/friends.

So when the bus driver said it would be at least 2 more hours...maybe more, that would put arrival at 6:30pm.

Taxi!!!!

$110 for the taxi.

A request for a refund for (at minimum the unused portion) the ticket was requested via online form.

The issue is that the snow in NY has been there for over a week so is no surprise. If Charlotte was affected it should have been disclosed on the list with the "norther" cities.
And if Greyhound would have just disclosed the delay up front- a ticket wouldn't have been purchased. Or if they would have disclosed Charlotte was the last stop on schedule, Charlotte could have been the destination and someone could have driven down- avoid taxi fare.

What do you think?

From where to where? Usually traveling bus is the cheapest way to travel within the USA. Check out the Greyhound website.
