Have any of you stayed at the Stanley Hotel? Can you stay in room 217 where Mr. Stephen King stayed or room 418 which is supposed to be the most haunted room? I want to go stay a couple nights there but cant talk my girlfriend into it...Yet!

I haven't stayed there but then it's just a few miles from where I live and I've never heard that you can't stay in either of those rooms. If you can't persuade her to stay there, maybe you could take one of the Ghost Tours the hotel offers instead?

Huh? You do realize The Overlook Hotel from King's book is fictional, right?
The movie version used exterior shots from The Timberline Lodge in Oregon although I understand the crappy TV version was filmed at The Stanley.

Dumb and Dumber was filmed there as well. I guess you can call it the Dumb and Dumber hotel and try to channel Jim Carrey when you are there.
