I've flown them a few times when it was the only airline available. I thought they were fine, although a couple flights had loud, unruly passengers.

Had to buy a last minute 1way from BOG to FLL, seats were completely fine and comfortable, staff was nice and my ticket was extremely cheap. No complaints, but I was hungry and broke and still didnt get a meal, but they did pass out cookies and water for me. They said they could tell i was hungry so the flight attendant snuck me a bunch of them

I will never fly the Spirit airlines again. I would rather pay more for safer and more responsible airlines. Last Saturday night, they canceled the flight from FL to DC all of sudden when people were all set to board. It was 9pm. They didn't provide hotels so we had to stay at the airport all through the night. One of the worst experiences ever. Please avoid this evil Spirit.

If the cancellation was weather related (or anything else out of their hands), they're not required to put you up in a hotel. Just about ever airline would do exactly what spirit did (say, "we're sorry but..."). Some will give you discount vouchers but not for much (typically a 2 minute web search will yield you a better deal anyway).

I've been in your shoes (with USAirways and Delta) and it's never fun. But the cancellation and no hotel situation is something fairly common across the board.

One recommendation is that if you're flying Spirit to try to get on their Airbus A320 and not their Airbus A319. I have flown Spirit ~6 times now and the A319 is definitely uncomfortable but the A320 is just fine. Anyone who hates Spirit is just complaining because they probably don't travel often and don't really know what to expect.

Flown on them to Myrtle Beach and it was ok. I did notice that they overbooked my flight and tried so hard to get someone to take another flight...the next day!!

An A319 is 12 feet shorter than an A320. Other than that they are identical to each other. The parts and engines are interchangeable.

When I flew on the A319 I couldn't even fit my legs in the seat, when I flew on the A320 I had enough room to put my head down and sleep. A lot could have to do with configurations or whatnot, but there was a CLEAR difference in how they set up the plane.

Spirit is a safe airline, they have never had any problems. Unless the delay was their fault almost all airlines will not give you a hotel. What was the reason for the delay?

Or someone who travels a lot on other airlines which are not ultra low cost airlines. They are pretty horrible but you get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with the way they do business.

Well yeah, but it would seem common sense that if you're flying a budget airplane you're not going to get all the perks you would flying a legacy airline, yes coca cola is a perk with budget airlines

I could see someone who has never flown budget airlines and then flies one could be in for a real shock though!
