Cheap NYC Hotels...
I would like some ideas on some cheap hotels in Manhattan that cost around $150 a night.
When I travel there, I stay in hotels with shared bathrooms and very small rooms. However, I will be traveling there with my girlfriend, and I can not convince her to use a shared bathroom.

Priceline is your best bet in this instance. Just choose a neighborhood, and bid. You shouldn't have a problem getting one for $150, and it won't have a shared bathroom!

Priceline is the site where you don't know the hotel you are bidding on? I don't like that concept. I want to know the exact hotel I will be staying at...it may be 3 stars and a good price, then I buy it and I read 100 horrible reviews about the hotel. No thanks. Can you book ahead of time on that site?
I suppose I will have to force my cheap self to shell out the extra cash!

I looked for hotels in NYC recently using Trip Advisor and was horrified to find what my budget would buy. THAT trip fell through but next time I'm going to try the site that lists apartments rented by owners. Something like VRBO? Seems like a better deal than the hotels. Good luck!

I'm in the LGA Crowne Plaza for $107/night. Not in Manhatten though.

Does anyone know anything about a hotel located above Penn Station? I think it's called the Pennsylvania.

It is actually across the street from Penn Station on 34th St. It is a well worn place that receives mixed reviews.

The location is not that great for tourists. I wouldn't stay there personally, but then again, I have family in the area so I've never needed a hotel.

We have used Priceline for just about every US state, several European countries, Mexico and the Caribbean. We have yet to be disappointed with what we "won." We've gotten some amazing deals, perhaps the most notable being the Marriott Resort in Aruba for $80/night. Others in the hotel paid over $200 for the same time period.
If you truly want to narrow down the hotel you'll win on Priceline, familiarize yourself with Priceline and Hotwire Forum and BiddingForTravel.com - The informed Priceline Travel Bidding Forum. You can search the forums and see what people have won in the area you're planning to go to. You can narrow it down to 1 or 2 hotels every time. $150 will get you a hotel in NY, but it won't be in Manhattan! Really, Priceline is the only possibility to stay in Manhattan with that price.
