We are going to Pisa with a group of friends this spring. We will be renting separate cars as we have varied interests while there. We never rented a car outside of the US so we have several questions about liability.
Normally, in the US we decline the optional CDW because it is not necessary if we pay with our credit card. It is one of the benefits. I am told that additional CDW coverage is mandatory in Italy. Our credit card company says we are covered in Italy. Our automobile insurance company however, states we are not covered outside the US. OK now already I'm confused. Do we need to obtain any additional coverage while renting cars in Italy?
