Well, since I have the opportunity to use the spirit air $9 fare club, I figured it'd be cheaper to fly to nassau for a day than to go out to a bar or something in my own town. lol
So, from myrtle to ft lauderdale to nassau=$18.
I won't have any baggage, just some board shorts flops, shirt and wallet
Does anyone know the closest clean(public)beach with the bahamas beach bar atmosphere going on? All I need to see is people(no isolation), white sand, clean water, and a few bars open during the day, and some things to walk to such as cool shops or a boardwalk. Then hop back on the plane that night depending on available times.
I won't need a passport will I for this? Just a license?
Thanks!

Ummm, Bahamas is a foreign country, you need a passport if you are flying in (might be some exceptions for cruises, but no short cuts/exceptions on flying in). You might be able to get into the Bahamas without a passport, but you can't get back into the US.

Well you will need to take a taxi to the beach. Cable beach is not that far from the airport I have never been there so I do not know what the bar scene is like there. The other beach area I know of is Paridise Island but most of it is private to guest of the hotels on that island. Of course you can go into the casino, bars inside the hotel but you cant use the pools. I do not know much about using the beach there.

A few years ago you did not need your passport but now new rules state you need to have a passport going into and out of any country. To tell you the truth your better off staying in Ft. Lauderdale for the Beach Bar scene the beaches are not as nice but still great the water is clear and warm and the sand is nice.

As of January 23, 2007, all persons traveling between the US and The Bahamas must have a passport.

Years ago, I used to do the one day trips from Philly to the Bahamas for $99 for a day. Left early in the morning, shuttle to Paradise Island, had use of the facilities, free lunch, and a shuttle back to the airport in early evening. It was great. Don't know if any resorts will let you use their facilities but you might want to contact a few. It's really nice to have a place to lounge, get a shower, etc. Have a great time. Visit the straw market and do a little bartering. We really didn't go into Nassau after the first trip because it was very hot and most of the stores were not open in the middle of the day. That might have changed or it just might have been the day of the week that we were there.

If you're cruising, you won't need a passport, but you will for air travel nowadays....thank our government for that! It's not the Bahamas that requires it! It's our own country!
