I need to get to Seoul (ICN) this summer and my traditional methods aren't working, or seem way to expensive.

Bing can't get a farecast...so I ask you all for your expertise-

International is something I've not ever done before.
When should I purchase tickets?
Now?, wait a few weeks, wait til May or June? Is there a website that is best when dealing with international fares or are the traditional sites the same ones to use?

{If any of you are really savvy with this sort of thing and have some free time and can look some things up-
GSO to ICN
June 30 to July 7
(RDU/CLT/SBY/BWI/IAD/DCA are alternate departure airports listed in order of preference if can get a cheaper fare)
(+/- a few days if it's way cheaper, too)}
Thanks for your help

Have you checked ITA?
Farecompare? Signed up with AirfareWatchdog?
This year is not looking great for international travel, at least, compared to last year.

Thanks for the tips, I didn't think of those sites.

So far I've gotten down to $1,400.

I am not asking for a handout. But airfare changes often and sometimes just like a spike in fare, a decrease happens...without knowing it.

So if anyone out there reading this thread has some free time and you are a traveler and have a favorite site...please plug in the airport codes and dates and see what you come up with. Feel free to come back and post.

I'm ready to purchase and am grateful to your assistance.

{a recent poster couldn't get lower than $900 for her flight, I got her $780.60, so hopefully she's happy someone at city-data saved her $240}

Maybe it's not such a good idea....

my daughter is over there, a young soldier who I was going to visit...

with all that's happening w/ North Korea...

it may just be best to stay home.

No, the situation in North Korea isn't something you need to worry about when visiting South Korea.

It's like when people think I have to deal with Mexican drug lords because I live in San Diego.

Don't worry--you'd be fine.

Oh, really!!!!

I still wouldn't hesitate to go to Tijuana today- crazy as it sounds. (medical tourism...not like I'd be out sightseeing or anything)

I did check the state dept's site and they haven't posted any travel alerts.

Thank you for posting. I won't change my plans...but WILL buy travel insurance.

Vegas, if you use ITA, be sure to check the "month long" option for researching fares.
