I'm one of the anybodies that actually believe that.
Every part of the trip is an adventure to me.

I like the conveniece of air travel but love the car rides. You never know what you're going to see.

I guess I just like adventure.

It depends where you are going and how. If it is a 10 hour overnight flight sitting in a middle seat in coach then it is no fun at all. The same flight in first class is a whole lot more fun.

DRiving across state or country can be really rewarding. Flying on the other hand no so much. Long waits in crowded terminals and long time sitting next to fat person on airplane. not so fun

Absolutely agree

I have done a few cross country road trips and loved every one of them.

Sometimes. I enjoy long car rides as long as I'm not driving the full way and I have good company in the car with me. Some of the best conversations I've ever had have been during a long car ride!

I love the getting there part, depending on where I'm going, it might be more than half the fun...

Not always, though. Night driving sucks...it's good for getting there faster, but it's boring, and hard to stay awake. Getting there is only fun if you have the time to take it somewhat slow and comfortable. I don't like rushing to get somewhere which usually means night driving, NOT drinking or eating much to lessen bathroom stops, and ONLY stopping to fill up or because you're falling asleep at the wheel.
It's been a long time since I've traveled by plane, but I loved it..I probably wouldn't enjoy it so much if I did it more frequently. As it stands, we have 2 kids and one on the way, so driving is easier on our budget...
...still wondering if it's the better choice for our visit to Vegas later this year though. We live in Ohio, at the moment, and by then we'll have 3 kids...so...driving/hotel along the way versus flying and renting a vehicle once we get there. We won't need to spend a lot of money on attractions, since we're going to visit family, not casinos, but I still don't wanna spend thousands on just the commute.

We used to love road trips. We've driven across country as well as more local state to state trips. Lately, the cops are out in full force. Doesn't matter how fast you're going, they'll tell you that you were going 20mph over that. Can't fight an out of state cop, so you end up paying $500 in "fees" so that it doesn't get reported to your insurance company.

I was very stupidly caught in one of the most well-known speed traps on the way from Miami to Key West and a simple internet search would have alerted me to it. I was going 54mph (both my GPS and odometer display speed very visibly) and he told me it was 92. If you've driven that route, you know it's not possible on a one lane road, with tons of cars in front of you. The 2 cops had 11, yes 11, cars pulled over. $500 later, it was never even reported to my state or insurance company. The locals say it's their way to generate revenue and they just want their money. Yes, road trips have lost its appeal and we fly whenever possible from now on.
