I'm thinking about eventually relocating--somewhere where it's warm year-round, preferably =D I know some Spanish currently, but I would love to be fluent in the language. I'm currently an Anthropology major, I adapt easily, and I need to find a relatively safe, warm, Spanish-speaking country with a stable economy.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
-Rachel C.

Take a look at Costa Rica. Try WeLoveCostaRica website for starters. We snowbird there every year and have found it a delightful country with many US and other foreign retirees.

Costa Rica and Panama would be your best bets, pretty safe places and warm. Chile also safe not exactly warm in the winter though. All three have decent economies.

Of course the most modern and safest spanish speaking country would be Spain. Plenty of warm areas there too.

I've always heard Costa Rica as well. Do you think you might need a non-extradition country or would any Spanish country do?

The best is what is best for you.. I'd personally go to Colombia. If you want my opinion.. learn Portuguese and go to Brasil.

Spain has a 20%+ unemployment rate and is in the middle of an economic crisis, may want to stay away

Costa Rica, I heard, is more ideal for its landscapes and wildlife than for everyday life, it is not such a safe country. Yes, Spain has a high unemployment rate, but the problem with south American countries is the safety, except maybe Ecuador which is said to be safer than the others. Worth checking.
