Stealth, I think I was just trying for the particular zone that the Palace was in.
They did not take my very first bid. My friend who was coaching me thought I actually could/should have gotten a better deal.

Hotel Palomar! Perfect location and price was great. (~120 or less)

I stayed at the Best Western Carriage Inn a couple of years ago. It's not fancy, but clean and decent, good rates, and the location is great. SOMA San Francisco Hotels | Best Western Carriage Inn Hotel S.F. | San Francisco Hotel
