My husband and I are driving from San Jose, CA to Lexington, KY in early June this year. We plan to be on the road for 5 nights and we plan to drive via Flagstaff, Santa Fe, Denver (2 nights), and Kansas City. It is about 2700 miles and we plan to drive only in the day time and stay the nights in the above mentioned cities. We will be driving in our own car. Any tips pertaining to route selection / road conditions /anything else in general are welcome.

If you have kids, go to the McDonalds website and use their tool to find all the McDonald's playlands along the route. Program them into your GPS. Good way to de-energize restless kids.

Car maintenance complete?
Good excuse to now get 3G service?
